Breathwork as a means to processing trauma

Just as the physical body has an innate ability to heal itself such as when you have a cut, the body instinctively activates the healing process of clotting the blood, providing inflammation to protect the damaged area and to activate the immune response, the psyche has its own natural healing ability to heal trauma and stuck emotions in the body.  With the help of a specific breathing method, emotions and old negative belief patterns can be released. Once released you no longer get activated by the triggers that cause the emotional reaction. You are better equipped to handle life's stressors and activate the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that keeps you calm in stressful situations and is responsible for accessing logic and problem solving.

Treating Trauma through EMDR

The natural response to trauma is to either fight, flight or freeze.  If you've experienced any form of trauma in your life and it has not been properly processed, you may be experiencing some irritability or even anger.  You may be covering up the feelings with an addiction, whether it be alcohol, drugs, shopping, gambling, video games, or anything you do in excess.  You may be escaping or fleeing the uncomfortable feelings that arise. Or perhaps you are simply confused and overwhelmed, you may not be able to make decisions or know what direction you want your life to go in. These may all be responses to trauma that need to be processed in order to move forward. I can help you process these trauma's to get you back on track. Call now to book your appointment. Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. It is also a set of techniques and methods for systematically developing this awareness. The practice of mindful awareness has a variety of well-documented impacts, including a reduction in toxic stress, an increase in emotion regulation, and an improvement in sustained attention, focus and executive functioning. If you're having trouble concentrating or are feeling overwhelmed from too much to do and not enough time or focus to do it, learning mindfulness meditation may just be what you need.  Call now to book your appointment (650) 683-5555.

Facilitating Emotional Change

The barriers to current healthy functioning result from emotion-laden schemes through which our experiences are processed.  We develop early on negative core beliefs we constantly tell ourselves that interfere with reaching our true potential. I will teach you how to access these schemas in therapy and we can work collaboratively to change them. Once these are changed, new personal meanings are discovered that will give you a renewed positive outlook on life. You will look forward to tackling life's challenges rather than try to avoid them. You will become empowered to learn new opportunities to enhance your life and your relationships.  Call now to get started (650) 683-5555.
